Integrated
Roadside Vegetation
Management
IRVM is the systematic
and specific approach to roadside vegetation management. Often, in Iowa,
the answer to weed control is a combination of planting native tallgrass
prairie and spot spraying of weeds. Native vegetation controls weeds,
prevents erosion and provides wildlife habitat.

The county weed commissioner is appointed by the Clinton
County Board of Supervisors, and is responsible for upholding the Iowa
Weed Law.
To file a complaint with the weed commissioner,
please call the Clinton County Conservation Board office at (563)
847-7202.or email at afried@clintoncountyiowa.com.
The Clinton County weed commissioner is Andrew
Friederichsen and the deputy weed commissioner is Darin Voss
There is a process that is followed on every
complaint that is received. When the complaint comes in, the weed
commissioner or his deputy will make a visual inspection of the
property. Then the land owner is contacted and arrangements are made
to comply with the Iowa Weed Law. If the landowner fails to control
the noxious weeds on the property then the county weed commissioner will
issue an Official Notice to Destroy. Once that happens
the land owner has a specified amount of time to control the weeds or the
county weed commissioner will do the weed control for them at their
expense.
